Am I Kahena Material?
Hi Kahena folks!
I’m interested in the Digital Marketing Associate – Project Management Support position (or any position I could be a help in!).
My name’s Adam. 39 years old. Israeli-born, American-raised, Jerusalem-based. Passionate about branding, web design, and content marketing. Musician, skateboarder, and father of 8.
I’m happy to respond to your position requirements:
Native English speaker with excellent communication skills (written and spoken).
Self-assessment: 10/10
I grew up in suburban America. I speak fluent English (and Ebonics).
Previous experience in digital marketing (SEO, Social Media, Inbound Marketing, Online Advertising)
Self-assessment: 8/10
I’ve been blogging for a decade. I have experience with blog posts, SEO content optimization, running an editorial calendar, social media marketing, email opt-in incentives (like free ebooks), product launch strategies, landing pages, adaptive content, email automation, webinars, online courses, e-commerce, and customer service.
Also, I’m a member of Michael Hyatt’s “Platform University” and Copyblogger’s “Authority” Program.
Extremely web and computer savvy.
Self-assessment: 9/10
I consider myself to be so, because of an enthusiasm for design and productivity.
As a designer, I’ve been designing websites for a decade (mainly Wordpress). I’ve also been developing brands using Adobe Illustrator.
Also, I teach productivity in an online course called HighRoad. I like online project management so much I have over 450 projects archived with the project management app Basecamp – I was even featured on their internal company blog. Today I use a mix of the project management tool Nozbe, with the CRM Highrise (they featured me on their blog too), Evernote Premium, Google Calendar, and productivity tracker Saent.
I consider myself to be a power user 🙂
Experience with Excel and basic data analysis.
Self-assessment: 4/10
I go about as far as gleaning insight from Google Analytics and MailChimp reports. Once I was able to benefit from a buzzsumo.com analysis of the content on my site.
Confident and adaptable in dynamic team settings.
Self-assessment: 7/10
Lemme point to my reading for that one:
I’m a big fan of the books “Rework” and “Remote” by Basecamp founders Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson. Their philosophy of doing work and running teams in today’s digital work-world has been an inspiration. I’m also a fan of the timeless knowledge of Dale Carnegie’s “How to Win Friends and Influence People”.
I should note that I’ve worked as a solopreneur for the better part of the last 10 years. Being in a team setting will be a somewhat new experience for me.
Ability to work to full time in Jerusalem office.
Self-assessment: 5/10
Jerusalem – yes. Full-time – possibly.
I live in the Abu Tor neighborhood – a stone’s throw from your location. I am a father of 8 children, with a working spouse, this requires a degree of flexibility with my scheduling. If I’m found to be what you need for Kahena, I’d be happy to work out a work schedule that honors your needs.
Strong research skills with ability to create solid reports or deliverables.
Self-assessment: 7/10
I think so… my main experience with this has been in crafting and delivering daily sales reports when working in e-commerce in 2007. Also, I regularly use research in the context of writing blog posts and preparing webinars.
Strong skills in time management and ability to work under deadlines.
Self-assessment: 9/10
Worked under deadlines often as a freelance translator for the past 7 years.
Regarding time management:
I track my focus with Saent, and my time with Toggl – so I actually run two timers simultaneously(!). I teach time management and productivity as a part of my online life strategy course, HighRoad. And as mentioned before, I was featured on the blogs of both Basecamp (internal company blog) and Highrise (public blog), regarding my use of their apps – project management and CRM.
Advanced experience with Excel.
Self-assessment: 3/10
I use Excel regularly, but not it’s advanced functions.
Advanced experience with Web Analytics.
Self-assessment: 4/10
I’ve interacted with web analytics for years, but never have been in instances with much actionable data.
Some level of coding experience (HTML, CSS).
Self-assessment: 6/10
I’ve done lots of CSS customization for my sites. I’m no pro coder, but I know my way around a style.css file on WordPress.
Any experience in creating marketing copy. Creative writer and thinker.
Self-assessment: 9/10
Years of blogging experience, as well as copywriting for various websites and catalogs. I write songs too!
Any experience in various CMS systems (WordPress, Magento, Drupal, Joomla, etc).
Self-assessment: 8/10
About 9 years of experience with WordPress.
Great sense of humor and ability to take a joke!
Self-assessment: ?/10
That depends, do you find this funny?
Not afraid to wage battle in a GIF war (or argue about if it’s pronounced ‘gif’ or ‘jif’).
Self-assessment: 10/10
Put up with pretentious discussions about the best way to brew coffee, and doesn’t mind being on camera (or at least Facebook live).
Self-assessment: 9/10
I do a Facebook live once per week. I like coffee, too!
